Hydrocele of the testicle
Hydrocele is an accumulation of fluid between the membranes of the testicle. It occurs as a result of inflammation or damage (trauma) to the testicle, its epididymis or membranes.
With hydrocele of the testicle, there is a gradual painless increase (sometimes significant) in half of the scrotum. This can make it difficult to urinate, have sex life, reduce the ability to work and limit physical activity: if you have dropsy, you cannot ride a bicycle, jumping into water and some sports are prohibited.
The disease requires mandatory surgical intervention. Compresses and other thermal procedures should not be used, as this only increases the amount of fluid between the membranes of the testicle. Treatment is most effective at the early stage of the disease, when the amount of fluid between the membranes of the testicle is small.
With a long process, testicular function may decrease and subsequent surgical treatment will be less effective. Therefore, if signs of dropsy appear, you should immediately contact a surgeon.
After the operation, you should abstain from sexual activity and swimming in bodies of water for 3-4 weeks; It is recommended to wear a jockstrap. In the prevention of testicular hydrocele, timely treatment of inflammation and injury to the testicle is of great importance.
