Foundation for flaking skin

Friends, the last month and a half has been very difficult for my skin!

As I already mentioned, I had a departure. And you know, in such reactions of the body you understand how 30-something actually differs even from 25. There are some prolonged reactions that definitely would not have happened before and a longer period of recovery for the body after something.

I always tell you that I describe my skin as dry.

But usually this concerns mainly sensations from the inside. For example, the skin may look shiny from the cream, but if its “strength” is not enough, and this is often the case, there may be a strong and uncomfortable feeling of tightness from the inside. And the same thing, even after all the creams, can occur from makeup, or a few hours after leaving, when everything is completely absorbed. This is my usual story, but I manage to avoid severe external peeling, dullness and dullness of the skin, which can occur on dry skin.

This time it didn't work. I changed my skin like a snake for a new one for some time after the poisoning. This is most likely similar to the recovery period after cosmetology procedures. The skin looked so-so, and from the inside it felt even worse than usual.

Therefore, all my foundations had to be reviewed again and tried to see if they would make lifeless, flaky skin look better or vice versa.

And so, I thought that it would be very useful for some of you to know which top products passed this test.

I have already wrote about Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil. I also used it as a treatment, and most of all I liked it with standard creamy, not too greasy and moist BB creams and CC creams.

Also me wrote about the new Erborian Glow Creme not so long ago. This thing works great for unhealthy complexions, but I want to clarify that it does not remove the severity of severe peeling. That is, if the tone was destined to highlight them, it will do so, even if Glow Creme was applied as a primer. But the complexion will be excellent).

And now about foundations that work for dry skin on their own without a primer!

What a cool tool this is! Yes, I recently mentioned it in my favorites and am writing about it again. Because I’m very pleased and it passed the crash test with success! There was even one time when I applied another product, it turned out horribly - I showed my husband my tortoiseshell skin, on which the peeling was emphasized, then I washed it off with micellar water and, without even applying all the care, I just decided to try applying Maestro Glow on top to take the planned photos . And even my husband noticed how the skin had changed (and this happens once every hundred years), how everything had been removed, as if there were no peelings at all, and the skin looked especially moistly photogenic.

It also contains spf and is very economical! The only “but” is a very light disguise, alas. Pimples and redness need to be masked separately. Sometimes a tone with medium masking is enough for me to do this, but this is just not the case.

In some incredible way, I have already managed to stop being my “winter” skin color. It seems like I haven’t walked outside that much yet and always wear spf, but the lightest foundations don’t look like their own anymore.

That’s why I recently took out the cushion again Erborian Liquid BB Crème au Ginseng Light.

It’s just a little darker and livelier (see the link in the title for a review and comparative swatches of their foundations), for my entire range of “spring-summer” skin color, its shade suits me perfectly, as last year showed. So, even with dry skin, it’s so good!

I think what matters here is that it has a very moisturizing texture, and the method of applying the product using tamping movements with a sponge, rather than smearing with brushes. The second one can highlight the peeling, but I abandoned my blenders and didn’t take them to Georgia at all. Although in general, when peeling, it is, of course, recommended to use sponges and tap in the tone with light movements, rather than rubbing.

The disadvantage of Erborian Liquid BB Crème au Ginseng is common to all cushions - unfortunately, it runs out faster. I’m literally squeezing the rest out of mine; I’ve already turned the sponge over with tweezers several times. I recommend this trick for everyone who uses cushions to “refresh” them.

I have a new package in stock, but I think the brand needs to start selling refills for it so that they can be bought cheaper than a new package.

And finally, I am happy to return to foundation Clarins True Radiance.

This is a wonderful tone for dry skin, which, unlike most similar ones, has a confident medium coverage. Still, it’s not so rare that we need not only radiance and a dewy look, but also camouflage - dry skin can have a lot of redness and blemishes. At times it becomes too shiny for me in the evening, but during this period of complete dehydration of the skin, this was no longer the case with it at all. I also tried applying it as a completely “lazy” tone, not for skin care, but on a face wiped with micellar water - to take a photo. And it worked too!

What discoveries do you have in masking flaking and dry skin?

You know, I also remembered how I painted the first bride in my life, she had very dry skin with flaking, most likely chronically. I painted her once before and she said that she chose and invited me to the wedding because I did not insist on applying foundation to her skin, and all the makeup artists had done this before; with the tone the skin looked worse than without it.

More about makeup artists, I have repeatedly answered the question “how to hide peeling?” I hear something like “you just need to apply cream before foundation\ exfoliate your skin regularly\ take good care of your skin so that they don’t appear.” Thank you, damn it, people with dry skin didn’t think of this before you! It seems to me that this is some kind of ridiculous snobbery. There are a lot of skin conditions that are not corrected by care or are not corrected immediately, and such answers are humiliating in the style of “these are not expired cutlets and you are a crappy cook.”

Answers - it’s better to spend money on a cosmetologist, but putties are not accepted :) (I go to a cosmetologist)
My skin is porous and flaky in places. I can’t find a high-quality foundation/powder. Here is a list of my disappointments:
1. Foundation (I choose one with a liquid texture, as it is less visible on the skin) - emphasizes flaking
2. Foundation based on silicones - evens out the complexion, but is terribly shiny
3. Loose powder (including mineral powder for 50 euros) - the face seems to be sprinkled with flour, the pores are even more visible.

What products do you use? If possible, name specific brands.

It’s better to go to a dermatologist, cosmetologists and I spent a lot of time and money, but the doctor really helped me. Now only powder
I use Clinic Stay Matt (compact), by the way, on the skin (on mine) it’s not noticeable at all and mattifies for a very long time

It’s terrible what’s wrong with your skin if you need so much plaster. It’s better to go to the doctor as they wrote, since it’s such a rude thing

I had porous skin before going to the clinic, now I don’t even need powder - my skin is in good condition, fresh, smooth. It’s better to treat rather than mask, as already written above. Good luck.

I hide redness with RougeBaniRouge concealer stick, and Dior Forever powder hides pores well.

I used tone before. Anytime cream, this is the younger brother of Lumene. But I haven’t seen this cosmetics on sale for a long time. It closed the pores well, all the bumps became invisible, but it is dense, although in winter this is not a problem.
Vichy Aeroton is also not bad, it blends perfectly with the tone, evens out the skin and does not emphasize pores or skin.
Powder is excluded, peelings are visible to the naked eye, and new ones will appear.
But I also agree with the guest that we need to get rid of problems. At least from flaking, this is the most untidy thing, it’s easier to hide the pores.

Author, make pilling a badyaga. Once a week, so 3-4 times. The code will become better, smoother, fat content will decrease

I have the same problem in winter. I constantly apply nourishing ones. Everywhere the skin seems to be normal but the nose is peeling(

As for the base, I have lumene, it makes my skin silky to the touch, but it doesn’t help with masking at all, for me personally it’s a useless thing

I, too, first had it treated by a cosmetologist (using microcurrents), and then I can think about decorative treatments.

Author, similar skin to you. So the white base From make up forever-pore minimalaizer, moisturizes, evens out, closes all pores and seems to smooth the skin.
2. tonalka= clarans or lancome taint idol - perfectly masks, moisturizes pores, also conceals goodness
3. pudra iredale - you can use it without anything, it’s an excellent cosmetic, but expensive.. and dries out the skin..

Author, it’s hard to cover peeling and any skin imperfections with a decorative product, unless you soften the skin before applying the decorative product. That is, a base, that is, a cream or oil, or you do procedures... you yourself understand, for sure. They are trying to help you here, but you call the answers inadequate.
to answer specifically, I use the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, I like its consistency (it’s more liquid) and it’s not heavy, it doesn’t exfoliate (maybe this is also the effect of the creams that I use under it). And the powder is I like Max Factor FaceFinity, I apply it with a brush, not a sponge.

As for the base, I like Pupa, but I don’t remember what it’s called. It makes the skin smooth.

The people here are so strange. You can’t remove pores, really, what for the advice? Cure! They even go as far as laser resurfacing, and it’s of little use. And then I cured it with microcurrents! If sebum is secreted, there are comedones, nothing can be done, yes, you can reduce it, go for cleansing, peeling, but the cause cannot be removed. And comedones are formed again and the pores expand. Yes, you can take hormones, it really helps. You just have to drink all the time, I stopped and it came back. Cure!

I didn’t read everything above. but I'll tell you what I use. I’m also treating my skin, the situation is quite good now, there are almost no acne (basiron), and in some places there are small spots (I use a bark cream mask with fruit acids and d-panthenol), there are no blackheads (I use a mask from Garnier with white clay), I’m generally a fan of all kinds of masks and I buy fabric ones and I love them from Green Mom, they don’t dry out my skin (pharmacy cream 36.6. natura for combination and oily skin) and I wipe it with tonic from Natura Siberika for combination and oily skin. I drink brewer's yeast with sulfur. Sometimes small pimples appear, I plan to finish treating my skin before graduation. I wash my face with a regular cleanser from Clean Line (I’ll try something from the pharmacy 36.6 when I run out). When I leave the house, I mask the redness with an antibacterial pencil for stop problems, my favorite, I’ve been using it for a long time, and then I apply antibacterial powder from Vivienne Sabo (letual 250 rubles), it contains tea tree oil and all sorts of drying ingredients. The face is like a porcelain doll. ugh ugh ugh, so as not to jinx it. good luck to all! I forgot to say that there are periods of both improvement and exacerbation, well, everyone does, I just tell myself that acne is temporary, and soon everything will be ok

HOW TO BEAUTY: Step-by-step lessons for New Year's makeup from Givenchy

We solve the most common problem of winter - how to apply foundation if the skin is peeling.

Peeling is not an obstacle to a perfectly even tone. But only if you know how to properly apply foundation to flaky skin. Here are a few simple rules, following which you will get a perfectly even tone and texture of the face without visible peeling, even if such are present.

Clean your face well

Use cleansing exfoliating gels to remove flakes from your face, then thoroughly moisturize your skin. Please note that being thorough does not mean that you need to spread all 30 ml of cream on the skin in a thick layer - this will only ruin the situation. If you apply too much cream or moisturizer under your makeup, your foundation will start to crease, making things worse. It's better to apply a layer moisturizer, wait 5–10 minutes, and then blot off the remaining product with a dry cloth.

When using primers, read the ingredients

Sometimes foundation does not immediately highlight flaking, but it can only appear a few hours after applying makeup - a primer helps prevent this undesirable phenomenon.

If you apply Foundation for primers, then pay attention to the composition of the base. The primer should not contain alcohol, otherwise it will dry out the skin even more during the day and increase the amount of peeling. In addition, primers with alcohol can cause foundations to oxidize, that is, turn yellow throughout the day. Ideally, the makeup base should contain hyaluronic acid; it will moisturize the skin and immediately smooth out flaking.

When applying base to flaking skin, the same rule applies as with cream and tone - the less, the better. Apply a small amount of product to your palms and gently press it into the skin. Do not rub - this will emphasize the texture. Then you can go over it with a brush to remove any remaining product. Just don’t wave the brush across your face, but press the bristles as if you were driving the product into the skin.

Use a damp sponge

No matter how much you love face makeup brushes, if they peel, they will only ruin the whole picture. Instead, it's best to use a damp sponge. It will distribute the product thinly and quickly, leaving no unpainted areas. Gently transfer the foundation from the back of your hand onto your face using patting and tapping movements. Try to “press” the peelings, as if you were gluing pieces of skin back to your face. This way you will get an even tone and a beautiful texture without flaking.

Don't use powder

No matter how tempting it may be to powder your entire face, you shouldn’t do it. The powder will highlight everything that you wanted to hide with foundation. To remove excess shine and lock in tone throughout the day, use makeup fixing spray. In addition to the fact that it will fall on your face like a weightless haze, you will not weigh down your makeup; on the contrary, your skin will look perfect and at the same time natural, without the effect of a mask. Another advantage of setting sprays is that they help refresh your makeup without the need to carry around an arsenal of brushes.

Check the composition of your foundations

Examine the composition of your foundation: ingredients such as alcohol or talc can sometimes cause flaking - these are good for adding matte, but are absolutely not suitable for flaking. Foundation products should be chosen with moisturizing components (hyaluronic acid, vitamins, peptides, ceramides and antioxidants).
