Every girl dreams of perfect skin. But, unfortunately, in modern realities, few people manage not to resort to the help of concealers. Dark circles under the eyes, pimples, uneven skin tone are the faithful companions of almost every girl.
. and today we want to tell you about our favorites that help us hide our flaws.
I have already confessed my love for Max Factor tones more than once. The recent new Miracle touch foundation has become another confirmation that there is something to love about them.
But a constant resident of my makeup bag for the past four years has been the Max Factor Facefinity 3-in-1 foundation in the shade 45 Warm almond.
What did she do to deserve such affection? Firstly, it camouflages perfectly, evening out the overall tone of the face, adapting to it. Secondly, it has excellent durability: the tone lasts from morning to evening almost in its original form. Thirdly, Facefinity 3-in-1 does not have a negative effect on the condition of the skin. Fourthly, it has a pleasant texture, thick but not greasy. And finally, fifthly, the tone mattifies well, which will please those with oily and combination skin.
At a time when my skin was not particularly beautiful, this foundation was just my lifesaver, because it perfectly masks various types of imperfections. Now I use it less often and mostly spot-on, but I prefer to always have Facefinity 3-in-1 on hand for those times when I need to look my best.
Price: 674 rubles in Letual.
2. Katya (LiL_Kate♥):
I discovered CC cream from Lumene about two years ago. Then it cost about 300 rubles, even a little less, but now the price reaches almost 1000 rubles, which is not at all budget-friendly. However, there are often promotions in Rive Gaucher - that’s where I buy this product.
The design is not pretentious - the cream is enclosed in a soft plastic tube with a screw-on cap. The “spout” is long and narrow, dispensing the product perfectly.
I became friends with this cream from the very first application - it fits perfectly on the skin, creating a light and barely noticeable coating, however, it perfectly evens out the skin tone. The cream hides skin redness and gives the face a rested look.
It is not able to disguise acne/inflammation/dark circles under the eyes, but in general it can even out skin tone, and this is exactly what I need.
The cream does not fall into the pores and does not flow. After applying the cream, I use loose powder - the makeup lasts until the evening.
I always choose the shade Medium - neither light nor dark, the ivory shade is ideal for me. Considering that the cream adapts to the skin tone, it is practically invisible on the face.
I really love this product, it’s not for nothing that many makeup artists and bloggers praise it. True, I wonder if the CC cream will change somehow after the re-release, which is planned in the near future? I hope no.
3. Tanya (Plum):
To be honest, I’ve lost interest in foundation since the summer – it was too hot, and I was too lazy to use them. Now I resort to my concealers no more than once a week, and my hand reaches out to just one.
BB cream Klairs Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream SPF40, PA++
I can safely say that among all the other excellent and good students, he is the best. The cream is placed in a convenient soft tube with a narrow spout, which perfectly dispenses the product. The color of Bibik is neutral, light beige, without a yellow or overtly gray undertone.
The consistency is not thick, but not runny either. The smell is pleasantly floral, not overpowering. The finish is almost matte, but if you do not immediately set the coating with powder, it gradually begins to delicately shine. The presence of UV filters cannot but please me - SPF 40. I am completely satisfied with the result of the work - the tone of the face is evened out, redness is masked.
From left to right: face without makeup/applied BB/end result with powder.
It does not require a base or special moisturizing, but if the skin is prone to flaking, then it is better to soften problem areas before applying BB. At the same time, my pet itself acts as a humidifier. It sits perfectly on the face throughout the day - it doesn’t slip off in spots and doesn’t highlight age-related changes. I need to powder my oily skin after about 4-5 hours.
Compound:
For me, Klairs is an excellent product, although it’s not at all budget-friendly. For 40 ml of product you will have to pay about 1,700 rubles.
4. Katya (Surikat):
My favorite for the cold season is the CLINIQUE Superbalanced foundation.
I have been using this cream for two years now and am still very pleased with the results it gives me.
Unfortunately, I have problem skin, which can often have rashes, peeling or post-acne, which makes my face look completely different from what I would like.
The cream has a liquid, but at the same time quite dense consistency. It can be applied in a very thin layer to even out the tone of the face, or it can be applied to problem areas with patting movements, then you can well disguise a pimple or redness.
The cream is not noticeable on the face, even upon close examination. It does not look like a mask, and, importantly, does not emphasize flaking, but rather moisturizes the skin.
The finish is moist.
The cream adheres well to the face - it does not roll off or clog pores. After 6-7 hours, a slight shine may appear, which can be easily dealt with with powder.
Overall, this is a great cream that makes my face look so much better even during my worst times.
I will say that a small minus for me is the lack of a dispenser and the rather high price - 2 thousand rubles.
Price: 2174 rubles in Letual.
5. Lena (Ligea):
I can’t even say approximately how many different foundation products I’ve tried in my life – a lot! But at the same time, at most 3-4 pieces fell into the category of ideal and beloved. Now, however, the situation has become better: innovative textures, shades that adapt to skin color, BB creams have also made a small revolution, so choosing something suitable has become a little easier. Last year I was delighted with the BB tinted treatment from Tarte, and this year I think the Naked skin from Urban Decay is the best.
I’m 99% happy with it, it suits my combination skin perfectly, although I think it’s basically suitable for everyone, I’ve repeatedly received rave reviews of it from people with dry skin.
The first thing that distinguishes it from other foundations is that Naked Skin is not a cream at all, it is very liquid, almost like a watery serum. Many people, probably like me, are used to first squeezing the right amount of product onto their hand, and then transferring it to the skin. You have to be careful with this “cream”, I literally dose it drop by drop, otherwise it will just run away. Another important point follows from the texture features: this foundation should not be applied with your fingers and the usual stretching movements along massage lines, or along any other lines. There will be streaks, uneven coverage and other problems. Here you need to either tap it in with a sponge (as always, I use my favorite beauty blender), or apply it in a circular rubbing motion with a brush. Then the result will be excellent!
I didn’t find any disadvantages with Naked Skin, so I’ll only list the pros.
There are so many shades, you can choose the right color for any skin. We have 20 presented on our official Russian website, but in general there are even more of them; the darkest and some neutral ones do not reach us. Shades ending with 0 are warm (with golden/olive undertones), ending with 5 are cool (with pink undertones), and there are also neutral ones, ending with 25. 3.0 was perfect for me - a light shade with golden undertones (official description) . But keep in mind that the names of the shades are still American; their gradation of light-dark tones there has a much greater amplitude than ours. My shade in our classification is rather medium, for slightly dark skin or with a light tan.
Many people love this foundation, and after trying it, I understood why. This is an absolutely weightless cream, neither at the time of application nor during wear, it is not felt at all and does not make itself felt.
It can be applied in a very thin layer (gives medium coverage) or layered. Such repeated application of a product for my porous skin usually does not end well, it all begins to seem like heavy, dense makeup, and there is an evenness in the tone of the face, but it looks rough and ugly. I apply this foundation in a thin layer over the entire face, including the area under the eyes, and then apply as many more layers as needed to individual areas where additional coverage is needed. And there is no mask effect or visible layers.
The finish is natural, natural and semi-matte. I like it so much that I don’t even use powder (I apply it only to the T-zone and under the eyes) so as not to take away this effect of matte, but at the same time illuminated skin. All dry textures apply perfectly to the base, it is not sticky or wet, so there is no risk of putting a stain instead of a delicate blush or highlighter.
During the day, the tone does not settle anywhere, does not emphasize wrinkles, does not oxidize, in general, behaves decently).
And yes, there is a Photoshop effect, there are definitely some reflective and scattering pigments in the composition, from a short distance the skin looks even and smooth, even if you don’t cover up some problem areas with extra layers or concealer.
And one more pleasant bonus that is relevant to all of us: this foundation behaves perfectly when filming or taking selfies :). It illuminates the face, gives a blur effect and hides all wrinkles, pores, dark circles under the eyes - a useful thing. I am very pleased and plan to try other Urban Decay foundation products now.
Price: about 2500 rubles, the largest selection of shades on the official website.
6. Nika (Nostalgia):
Max Factor Lasting Performance has been a best-selling foundation for many years now. I just met him this summer, and he has been my favorite for several months now. I have already used 4 tubes.
I chose this cream solely because of the Fair shade, the lightest in the line. And if in the summer it was a little paler than necessary, now this shade blends perfectly with my skin tone. In addition, Lasting Performance provides long-lasting coverage, covers all imperfections without the need to use concealer (including acne), does not highlight flaking or clog pores.
Many long-lasting creams have a mattifying effect, and this one is no exception. Suitable for those with oily and combination skin. The most important thing is that, despite its durability, it does not dry out the skin, so it can be used both in summer and winter.
The cream does not leave marks on the phone screen and does not disappear during the day. According to my observations, it lasts about 7-8 hours. At the same time, it does not cause any discomfort, a feeling of a “mask”.
Volume 35 ml, price 441 rubles in Letual.
7. Polina (Skyfall):
My favorite foundation right now is The Saem Saemmul Moist BB in 01 Light Beige. Bibik is light beige without any pronounced undertone and adapts perfectly to fair skin. The consistency is not liquid, but not very dense either.
In the fall, when my skin gets terribly dry, one of the main criteria is to behave as decently as possible in dry areas. Here the bibik showed itself very well, emphasizing only the most severe peeling.
The tone evening out is excellent, plus good masking of various redness/inflammations and other things.
BB cream does not sink into pores and does not emphasize wrinkles, which is another plus for it.
The finish is lively and shining.
Longevity on non-oily skin is about 7 hours. With this BB cream, I am sure that my makeup will stay in place and will not slide off my face in the evening.
Price: 440 rubles at LuckyCosmetics.
I won’t tire of talking about my favorite BB cream – Tony Moly AC Control BB Cream. I’ll say right away that it’s not 100% perfect, but, nevertheless, it has remained my favorite for two years now. The interesting thing is that it was the first Korean BB cream I tried and remains the best among those that I have tried in the future - I don’t like any of them as much. So he's my bull's eye.
Bibi cream is intended primarily for problematic skin prone to oily skin (mine is exactly like that), the tone is universal. The color, in my opinion, is really neutral - neither yellow nor pink, it makes my pale skin look healthier (I think). The texture is pleasant - the cream is easily distributed simply with your fingers. Probably, I love this bibi cream because it doesn’t “substitute” me during the day - there are no unpleasant surprises with it: no sinking into the pores, no emphasizing wrinkles or sliding where it shouldn’t. And I know all its shortcomings very well and put up with them, because the advantages are more important (good color, texture, lack of a “mask” effect, but the presence of a healing effect on problem skin (true!) and very good masking of shortcomings).
Among the shortcomings, I can note the durability - unfortunately, the bib will not survive a long day, plus it can emphasize peeling (not much). And the packaging, towards the end of the product, simply cracks with holes on the sides, which makes it difficult to use - there were two tubes, the story repeated itself with each one.
Now bibi cream has disappeared from sale, and I hope that it is only temporarily, since Korean manufacturers really like to re-release their products once a year or at least twice, but in the meantime I have found a worthy replacement in the form of the new Miracle Touch Smoothing Foundation from Max Factor.
My favorite foundation over the past year and a half has always been Maybelline NY Affinitone Perfect Tone. I really love a thick coverage that can hide all the redness and imperfections, and it can easily handle even the most problematic areas of the skin.
The consistency of the foundation is liquid, but when distributed it hardens quite quickly, so you need to apply it at an accelerated pace so that the coverage is uniform. Depending on the condition of the skin, it may apply differently. If I previously applied peeling or scrub, the foundation will fit perfectly. If the skin has not been subjected to cosmetic treatment for 4-5 days, it will be applied as a “mask”.
The finish is slightly damp, I really like this coating - it gives the effect of well-groomed smooth skin.
Despite the fact that Affinitone has a couple of nuances in application, for me it remains the most ideal foundation with dense coverage, and if you love the “Photoshop” effect and want to completely matte your skin, I advise you to pay attention to it. The cost, by the way, is quite anti-crisis - 389 rubles.
We told you about our favorites in the world of foundations, and we hope that we helped you with the choice depending on your needs and price preferences.

Nika Kislyak was taught makeup at the famous Moscow school Mosmake, and after that she went to improve her skills in London and New York. For the next few years, Nika was an independent makeup artist, working with gloss, stars, conducting master classes and even releasing a line of decorative cosmetics. Since 2012, for three years, Nika has been the chief makeup artist of L’Oreal Paris in Russia: a position after which almost all doors are open. Today Nika is again an independent artist, and in this status she compiled a rating of the best foundations for us.
Nika Kislyak,
independent makeup artist, former chief makeup artist at L’Oreal Paris in Russia“Foundation is one of the most important products in makeup! All the products I have chosen are simple and easy to use. I tried to put together a list of win-win foundations that, no matter how you apply them, will definitely make your skin look better. Nowadays, light translucent foundations with reflective particles in their composition are popular, thanks to which the skin looks fresh, well-groomed and very natural,” says Nika.
Luminous Silk Foundation, Giorgio Armani
In my opinion, this is the ideal tone that covers skin imperfections, but still looks natural. The skin is matte, but with a very beautiful glow. The product lasts a long time, the skin looks truly luxurious! You can apply it with anything, my favorite way is with a duofibre brush, which blends the tone into a delicate veil, or with a sponge.
Luminous Silk Foundation, Giorgio Armani (RUB 3,460)
Nude Magique, L'Oreal Paris
Super option for every day. If you want to spend a minute or two creating a tone, this product is for you. Shake and spread the cream from the center of your face outwards and that's it. The product has a very pleasant texture, which is designed for application with fingertips. The composition includes mineral oils, the tone on the face creates a very light powdery effect, but at the same time the skin naturally glows.
Foundation Nude Magique, L’Oreal Paris (437 RUR)
Matte Skin Shine Proof Foundation, Becca
If you love a matte finish, I recommend trying this product. In addition to a good, almost natural composition, you will get a matte effect that will look completely natural, and not like a plaster mask. It is better to apply this tone with a brush or sponge. The product is light and weightless, very comfortable in feel, but at the same time it perfectly covers skin imperfections.
Matte Skin Shine Proof Foundation, Becca (RUB 2,999)
Intensive Skin Serum Foundation SPF 40, Bobbi Brown
This is my new favorite! A combination of foundation and caring serum. The product simply melts on the face, spreads easily and evenly, the tea tree oil included in the composition helps remove redness and relieves inflammation. A convenient dispenser pipette, the ability to apply the product with your fingertips, plus a degree of sun protection SPF 40. The skin instantly transforms, becomes moisturized and looks fresh.
Intensive Skin Serum Foundation SPF 40, Bobbi Brown (RUB 3,153)
Sheer Glow Foundation, NARS
The foundation for radiant skin is a fairly pigmented product that covers skin imperfections. Best applied with fingers or a sponge, leaving skin glowing from within. I advise you to apply the product in a thin layer, and when applying with a sponge, you can apply the tone more densely to individual areas of the face.
Sheer Glow Foundation, NARS (RUB 2,983)
Lumi Magique, L’Oreal Paris
The tone is not light, but not super dense - an ideal intermediate option. It gives the skin a very beautiful natural glow, looks natural, but at the same time covers skin imperfections. Can be applied with any tone brushes, sponge or fingers. It instantly makes the skin look more hydrated, well-groomed and luxurious.
Foundation Lumi Magique, L’Oreal Paris (635 RUR)
Designer Lift Foundation, Giorgio Armani
This is my favorite foundation, which is ideal not only for my clients, but also for me personally, and I have quite problematic skin. Instantly transforms the face, making even the most difficult areas look beautiful. I don't know how it works, but it works! Having tried this particular foundation, I understood why the best makeup artists around the world choose Giorgio Armani products for their skin: high-quality pigments, good formulations, sun protection. In the autumn-winter period, many suffer from flaking skin; this tone does not magically highlight this problem, but, on the contrary, smoothes it out.
Designer Lift Foundation, Giorgio Armani (RUB 5,575)
BB cream, Beauty Republic
I was very surprised and pleased! I’ll say right away that I’m not a fan of BB creams, but this one turned out to be a pleasant exception. I tried it at a show, where there was a huge field for experimentation, and in all cases the tone showed itself very well. It comes in natural colors, greenish to neutralize redness or inflammation, and purple to transform faces with yellow skin tones. You can apply it with your hands or with a brush, I liked working with a natural fluffy brush, the layer turns out thin, barely noticeable, but the skin is transformed, and the effect lasts quite a long time.
Foundation / BB cream, Beauty Republic (RUB 1,599)
Most women use dozens of cosmetic products every day, of which foundation is considered the most popular. Every representative of the fair sex dreams of a perfectly smooth facial skin texture in order to look like she’s on the cover of a magazine. But many, unfortunately, fail to achieve a similar effect. You shouldn’t immediately be disappointed in foundations, because often this happens not because they don’t work, but because they were chosen incorrectly. Modern foundations can hide almost any imperfections, as if Photoshop had worked hard on the skin. Today we will talk about how to choose the right foundation.
The best manufacturers of foundation for the face - which company to choose
Cosmetics are produced by a variety of manufacturers, from small private enterprises to huge companies with workshops scattered around the world. Some brands have been on the market for more than a hundred years. It is in such brands that users have developed special trust. Their products are usually luxury products, although there are also representatives of the mass market.
If you do not have the opportunity to read all the material to the end, then check out the list of the most famous companies:
The listed companies develop and produce a large number of foundations for different skin types. All products contain exclusively high-quality ingredients. For those who are looking for a specific product, we suggest going to our rating of the best foundations.
The principle of operation and structure of facial foundation
Foundation is a special product containing color pigments that help even out skin tone, thus hiding imperfections. Acne, freckles, redness, age spots, dark circles under the eyes - all this can be easily covered with the right foundation.
The foundation also protects the skin, protecting it from external adverse factors. Many products have an SPF factor, which allows you not to worry about the dangers of ultraviolet radiation even in sunny weather.
In addition, foundations are distinguished by the presence of useful ingredients, for example, vitamin complexes, oils, moisturizers and more. All this allows you not only to hide imperfections, but also to take care of your face, preventing premature aging, removing peeling, and so on. Today's products do not clog pores, so they are suitable for daily use.
You can apply foundation in different ways. First, you need to prepare the skin by cleansing it of impurities and moisturizing it, for example, by applying a base (primer). For a dense coating, use a flat synthetic brush, and for a thinner coating, use duo-fiber.
You can get the thinnest layer if you use a special beautyblender sponge. It is pre-wetted in water, so it distributes the base evenly, making it almost invisible. This method is perfect for natural makeup.
Types of foundation for the face
Cream fluid
The base of this liquid cream consists of less oils, but more powder. Thanks to this combination, it is perfectly applied to oily skin, absorbing excess sebum. It is invisible and not felt on the face, distributed evenly in a thin layer. Contains nutrients and components that ensure its durability. The cream does not accumulate in wrinkles. A great option for spring and summer.
Advantages:
- ideal for mature skin,
- does not clog wrinkles and pores,
- light texture,
- nutritional components included,
- absorbs sebum well.
Flaws:
- emphasizing peeling,
- does not cover serious imperfections,
- It is not recommended to use in winter due to the water content.
This is a cream with an airy texture. It has a powdery finish, so it does not require additional fixing. Suitable exclusively for smooth and healthy skin to slightly even out the shade, add freshness and radiance. It is especially popular in “nude” makeup among young girls. It is usually sold in convenient glass jars.
Advantages:
- gives a natural effect,
- evens out the tone
- not felt on the face.
Flaws:
- does not mask noticeable imperfections well,
- emphasizes peeling,
- may get stuck in wrinkles.
Cushion
Cushions appeared relatively recently, coming to our market from Korea. They are a sponge soaked in foundation, which is in a package resembling a powder compact.
During application of the product, the sponge loosens the creamy texture, which is why even in several layers the product becomes a light and weightless emulsion that does not clump for a long time. The finish of the cushion is wet, so it can be used for the strobing technique (wet shine).
Advantages:
- "3-in-1" product
- compactness,
- Lots of moisturizing ingredients.
Flaws:
- may not be suitable for oily skin types,
- the price is above average.
Cream powder
A fairly dense creamy product that fits in a powder compact. Applies evenly to the face and blends easily. After a certain amount of time, the base dries, leaving the effect of applying powder. The product is convenient to use outside the home to apply makeup or touch up it. In this case, you do not need to take additional fixing cosmetics with you.
Advantages:
- "2-in-1" product
- good durability
- masks most imperfections,
- compactness.
Flaws:
- emphasizes peeling and wrinkles,
- a little heavy for the spring-summer period.
Liquid foundation
Classic foundation. Most often sold in soft plastic tubes. It is optimal in thickness, not too liquid. Has excellent covering ability. Depending on what and how to apply the product, you can change the thickness of the coating. It is easy to achieve a thin and invisible layer with a damp sponge, and a dense layer with a dry brush.
Advantages:
- Suitable for all skin types,
- easy to regulate application,
- perfect for the cold season.
Flaws:
- may collect in wrinkles,
- usually requires setting with powder.
Compact stick
Thick consistency product. The packaging resembles a lipstick and unscrews in the same way. The sticks vary in size.
For use on the entire face, thick rods are best; for targeted use, small, thin pencils are best. Foundation in a stick provides the strongest coverage of imperfections. In this case, the layer turns out to be loose, but not weightless.
Advantages:
- especially ideal for pronounced problems,
- suitable for all skin types,
- has good durability.
Flaws:
- not recommended for daytime makeup,
- can emphasize wrinkles and peeling.
Options for choosing a foundation for the face
Skin type
First of all, when choosing a foundation, you should decide on your skin type:
Light to medium consistency is best suited for normal skin. The foundation can be enriched with moisturizing or nourishing additives.
Liquid foundations and fluid creams, as well as products with a matting effect, will work great on oily skin. The product should lie evenly, not drip during wear and not clog pores or wrinkles. It's best to have a powdery finish.
For dry skin, on the contrary, a richer foundation is important, which contains many moisturizing components. The main thing is that it does not emphasize peeling, which is often a problem of this type.
Hue
The next step is to determine the shade. From the dozens presented on the store counter, the easiest way to choose the most suitable one is by testing.
The foundation should be applied to the cheek, in the area where it transitions to the neck. The more the color blends into the skin, the better. If you like two options, light and dark, and you can’t figure out which one to buy, then choose the first one. Many foundations tend to darken a little after application. Never try to tan your skin using foundation, as this can lead to the appearance of an unsightly mask on your face, where the boundaries are clearly visible.
For skin with pink pigment, you need to choose a beige shade, with yellow, beige-pinkish, and for dark-skinned skin, beige-apricot and dark beige shades are ideal.
Durability
Foundations are long-lasting and regular. The first option is different in that it remains on the skin for 12-18 hours, even if you are in extreme conditions, for example, exposed to rain, snow or hot sun. This foundation is recommended for special occasions. With it you can be sure that your makeup will last until the very end of the day.
Products with normal staying power last no more than 4-6 hours on the skin and are suitable for daily use.
Effects
Foundations have many effects, but it is worth highlighting only two main ones:
Mattifying foundations contain special particles that, when they come into contact with the skin, absorb excess sebum. Such products allow you to remove unnecessary shine and maintain the effect for several hours.
Light-reflecting foundation products give the skin a noble glow, reminiscent of healthy skin. These products contain tiny elements, invisible to the human eye, that can refract the light falling on them, due to which the glow appears.
Which face cream to choose?
1. For mature skin, it is best to choose a classic foundation or cream fluid.
2. For oily skin, a mattifying product is suitable; mousse or cream powder would be a good buy. If there are imperfections, then purchase a stick.
3. Owners of a dry type should pay attention to cushions, abandoning dense textures. They can not only moisturize and smooth out flaking, but also give a dewy glow, which is so popular in makeup today.
4. Save long-lasting foundations for special occasions or for photo and video shooting. Wearing such products daily is not recommended because they do not allow the pores to breathe normally. Such products are not suitable for daytime makeup, since the dense texture will be noticeable in bright light.
5. Choose regular foundations for everyday use, because they can stay on the skin throughout the working day.
6. When choosing a shade, consider the pigment present in your skin. Avoid pink if your base pigment is the same. For correction, it is better to take a neutral beige color.
7. If yellow pigment predominates, then give preference to a beige-pinkish shade.
8. For those with dark skin, beige-apricot or beige-dark is perfect.
How much does foundation cost?
1. Foundations for the face from the mass market will cost from 300 to 1,500 rubles. Everything will depend on the components included in the composition, durability, packaging and brand.
2. Fundamentals from luxury series will cost much more. For one tube of foundation you will have to pay from 1,500 to 7 thousand rubles. These products justify their high price with beautiful packaging and small batch production. There is no point in chasing luxury, since the compositions are similar to cheaper alternatives.
3. Professional rulers are usually used by makeup artists. Foundations are often intended only for photography and video shooting, so they are not suitable for everyday wear. Their prices fluctuate around 2 – 5 thousand rubles.
