At what age can you use anti-wrinkle cream?

From the age of 25, you should think about using products that prevent early aging. The cream should contain components that intensively moisturize the skin, vitamin E and C. The formula for youth between the ages of 25 and 30 is protection, moisturizing, toning. The most suitable cream is labeled Anti-age. These products do not smooth out wrinkles, but protect the skin from their appearance.

Between the ages of 30 and 35, a woman should use an anti-wrinkle cream with a lifting effect and labeled Lifting. These products smooth out the first wrinkles and prevent the appearance of new ones. At this time, the first signs of skin aging may appear, as cell division in the basal layer of the epidermis is significantly reduced. Skin color may have a grayish tint. To make the cream more effective, it is rational to use acid peels, which will help remove the keratinized upper layer of the epidermis and penetrate the nutrients of the cream into the deeper layers of the dermis.

At 35-40 years old, the skin requires enhanced regeneration. All efforts should be directed towards smoothing wrinkles and restoring skin cells. The aging process begins to have a deep character and takes place at the cellular level. At this age, it is rational to use intensive nourishing and regenerating creams designed to fill wrinkles and prevent cellular aging of the skin.

After 40 years, a woman independently decides whether to continue intensive skin care at home or use salon methods of intensive skin rejuvenation.

Wrinkles in women form in the deep layers of the skin. And this process happens very gradually. Cosmetologists unanimously advise using creams according to age. From the age of 25 you need to use moisturizers, cleansers, and scrubs. It has already been proven that sun exposure plays a role in the active formation of wrinkles. Therefore, the use of sunscreen by young girls is an excellent prevention of wrinkles. And at the age of 25, you don’t need to use creams designed for mature skin. They contain a lot of concentrated biological substances that can even cause allergies in young girls.

Based on the simple fact that wrinkles are formed as a result of processes occurring in the middle layer of the skin (dermis), and any cosmetics act only within the upper layer - the epidermis, then creams on which it is written that they are “anti-wrinkles” can generally never use. When applied with massage movements, you can achieve temporary smoothing of shallow wrinkles, which will still return after a few hours.

Is there really no way to prevent the appearance of wrinkles?

You just need to understand the mechanism of their formation. This mechanism is simple:

  1. from below, from year to year, there is a constant movement of the facial muscles, moving the skin in the same directions;
  2. in the middle, the structure of collagen and elastin is destroyed;
  3. solar radiation penetrates from above, finishing off the remains of elastin, which is no longer produced by the body, and collagen, which is produced significantly less with age.

I have already described in great detail how exactly this happens. Here And Here, so I won’t repeat one thing over and over again, I’ll just say: systematically use at any time of the year a cream with sun filters against UVA and UVB radiation types with SPF 15 and higher (but not more than SPF 50) - and you will have real protection against the premature appearance of wrinkles . At what age should you use such creams? Yes, since childhood, when they take me to the beach. As you grow older, with the advent of caring products, a cream with filters is a must.

Once wrinkles have appeared, it is too late to look for cosmetics against them; you can only delay their appearance, and this must be done long before the first signs of fading occur.

Anti-wrinkle cream: when is it needed?

Skin aging happens natural (chronological) and premature. Premature aging you can just stop it. There is a lot of evidence that skin aging is accelerated by a lack of vitamins in the body, smoking, stress, excessive tanning, insufficient skin hydration and neglect of sunscreen. What about natural aging? After 25-27 years, skin regeneration mechanisms begin to slow down. Its cells retain moisture less well, and the production of hyaluronic acid and “youth proteins” - collagen and elastin - deteriorates. It becomes more difficult for skin cells to regenerate - that’s why at 20 years old you can dance all night long and look great the next morning, at 27-30 years old all the traces of sleepless nights already begin to “imprint” on your face. Skin cells need outside help. This is where they come to the rescue anti-aging products. The main feature of such cosmetics is the presence in the formula of active ingredients that help the work and restoration of skin cells. This is, for example, hyaluronic acid, collagen, elastin, plant extracts, peptides...

So when is the time to change your moisturizer or protective cream to an anti-aging one? This largely depends on the individual needs of the skin. Usually cosmetologists advise starting to use cream marked "from the first wrinkles" aged about 30 years old. However, if you have overly active facial expressions, thin, dry skin, or there are pronounced signs of premature skin aging (for example, facial wrinkles and loss of tone), this moment may come a little earlier. And with good heredity – even later.

By the way, first you should choose yourself good moisturizer for young skin (and also nourishing for dry skin) and make it a rule to use it constantly. In most cases, newly appeared wrinkles disappear. In addition, the composition creams for young skin and creams for the first wrinkles very similar. They contain moisturizing components (hyaluronic acid, lecithin, aloe extract, etc.), antioxidants that protect skin cells (for example, bioflavonoids), and ingredients to strengthen the epidermal barrier (squalane, vegetable oils). It's just that anti-wrinkle products have more intense formulas.

It is easier to preserve what is given by nature than to make up for shortcomings later. When age-related changes in the skin have just begun, there is a chance to pause the process. By the age of 30, your skin’s best friend is cosmetics and preparations based on hyaluronic acid, since by this age the production of this substance in human skin slows down. Namely, hyaluronic acid regulates moisture content in skin cells. The rate and volume of collagen and elastin synthesis directly depends on its quantity - therefore, around the age of 30, the first wrinkles appear and the face becomes “tired.”

And finally, it’s worth dealing with one of the most common cosmetic horror stories: that if you start using anti-wrinkle cream ahead of time, your skin will get used to it and may even begin to age faster. In fact, the skin can only get used to being cared for - nourished, moisturized... Cosmetics are not hormonal medications or antibiotics, to which there really is an “addiction”. The skin absorbs the active cosmetic components that it needs, and trying to improve the already normal functioning of young skin cells will lead to nothing. There will be no harm to the skin from such creams, but no benefit either.
