Amino alcohol is an organic compound containing an amine group and one or more hydroxyl groups, that is, accordingly, it is a derivative of ammonia and alcohol. The name comes from the word “amino”, which is part of the etymology of the word “amines”, and the prefix “oxy” comes from the OH group contained in the name of the alcohol. Many of these compounds are biologically active, as are the nucleophilic reagents that interact with them. There are aminospirites of atomic and molecular types. It is important to consider that both types of these organic derivatives have a polar hydrocarbon radical–hydroxyl residue bond. Therefore, some of them take part to a small extent in intermolecular hydrogen bonding processes.
Among the most famous aminospirites is the atom
