Aminoven Infant: use, composition, indications and contraindications

Aminoven Infant is an infusion solution that is used for partial parenteral nutrition in newborns, young children and premature infants. This is one of the products produced by Fresenius Kabi, which is one of the largest manufacturers of medical drugs in the world.

The composition of Aminoven Infant includes a number of amino acids, such as L-leucine, L-isoleucine, L-lysine, L-methionine, L-phenylalanine, L-threonine, L-tryptophan, L-valine, L-arginine, L-histidine , glycine, taurine, L-serine, L-alanine, L-proline, L-tyrosine, L-cysteine, L-malic acid.

Indications for use of Aminoven Infant are associated with partial or total parenteral nutrition. This solution is used in combination with other carbohydrate solutions, fat emulsions, preparations of vitamins, electrolytes and microelements.

Despite the wide range of applications, there are also contraindications to the use of Aminoven Infant. This is a violation of amino acid metabolism, metabolic acidosis, overhydration, hypokalemia. Also, with rapid injection of the solution into peripheral veins, signs of a local reaction, such as redness, phlebitis, and thrombosis, may be observed.

The interaction of Aminoven Infant with other drugs has not been studied, so it should not be mixed with drugs not intended for parenteral nutrition.

An overdose of Aminoven Infant can lead to symptoms such as chills, nausea, vomiting, and renal aminoacidosis. If hyperkalemia occurs, it is recommended to administer 200-500 ml of a 5% glucose solution with the addition of 1-3 IU of insulin for each.

When using Aminoven Infant, daily monitoring of the puncture area is necessary, as well as taking into account indicators such as the concentration of nitrogen in the urine, the content of ammonia, glucose, electrolytes, triglycerides (with additional administration of fat emulsions), the activity of liver enzymes, serum osmolarity, acid-base balance and water-salt metabolism. In case of liver and kidney failure, individual dosing may be required.

Thus, Aminoven Infant is an effective remedy for partial or complete parenteral nutrition
