Artery of the Iris Temporal

The temporal iris artery (arteria iridociliaris temporalis) is the only capillary artery of the retina, which originates from the internal carotid artery system and enters the optic tract through the orbit, anastomosing with the facial artery.

The iris artery, the artery of the labyrinth, passes through the cribriform plate from the outer surface of the medial process of the perpendicular plate (in the sphenoid-petrosial groove). It begins its journey from the medial angle of the internal carotid (orbital) artery and crosses its frontal half directly behind the circle, and then passes along the middle third of the horizontal sinus, in the sphenoid
