Artery Gluteal Cranial

The gluteal cranial artery (lat. a. glutea cranialis) is a paired mixed artery that supplies blood to the gluteal region and external genitalia in men [1].

The artery arises from the posterior wall of the internal iliac artery at the level of the sacrospinous ligament, 2.5 cm outward from the dentate line. From above it is covered by the greater sciatic nerve and the semicircular line, from below by the superficial fascia of the perineum.
