Asphygmia

**Asphyxia** is a rather dangerous condition for human life, accompanied by impaired oxygen supply to the body or a decrease in the excretion of carbon dioxide. Asphyxia can cause cardiac arrest and death.

Translated from ancient Greek, acophysia means “absence of pulse” and the term “asphyxia” is now most often used.

The pathological obstruction of the airway that occurs during asphyxia can occur for various reasons and is mainly associated with a mechanical obstacle - spasms in the larynx, trachea and large bronchi, foreign bodies, pulmonary edema, etc. This is possible in any person, regardless of age and type of activity. According to statistics, children with reduced immunity and elderly people are most susceptible to this pathological condition.
