Balser's Disease

Balzer disease (BD) is a rare inflammatory disease of the sensory organs, characterized by inflammation of the central and peripheral parts of the visual pathway. BD is classified as an atypical optic neuritis.\n\nBD has been known since the end of the 18th century, but only by the 80s of the 20th century it gained stable statistics of patients undergoing treatment thanks to the actively developing methods of ophthalmological diagnostics.\n\nThe disease is characterized by non-inflammatory changes in the visual and visual parts of the brain. Due to dysfunction of the visual analyzer, the patient does not see anything in front of him or is able to “see” with his eyes closed. The lesion may affect one or both eyes.\n\nbalsera disease is a rare disease that is not a separate nosology. BD has not yet been sufficiently studied, therefore it is often mistakenly considered a form of glaucoma, optic nerve atrophy or neuritis (peripheral inflammation of the nerve).\n\nThe first symptoms of Balcher's disease\nA patient with BD may experience the following complaints:\n- Increased eye fatigue\ n- Loss of visual acuity\n- Fog before the eyes\n- Aching pain due to prolonged work at a computer monitor\n- Ghostly, blurring vision images
