Bedrenets Saxifraga

A perennial herbaceous plant of the celery family, up to 50 cm high. The rhizome is multi-headed, branched, brown. The root is wrinkled and tuberous. The stem is straight, hollow inside, covered with fluff on the outside, and has thread-like grooves. The lower leaves are simple, pinnate, and individual leaflets are ovate and serrate. The upper leaves are often three-lobed, poorly developed, and several linear segments are visible.

Blooms from June to October. The flowers are white, collected in an umbrella.

Bedrenets saxifrage is common in the European part of Russia, Siberia, Kazakhstan and the Caucasus.

It grows in dry meadows, clearings, pastures, along the edges of fields, along roads, on embankments, wastelands, edges and in light forests.

The medicinal raw material is the rhizome with roots. They are harvested in September - October or early spring, cleared of soil, washed with cold water and dried in the shade or in a dryer at a temperature not exceeding 45 ° C.

After drying, the raw material has a pungent odor and bitter taste. Store it in a tightly closed container, protecting it from dampness.

The thigh contains saponins, resins, tannins, essential oil and the bitter substance pimpinellin, which is insoluble in water.

Bedrenets is used as an infusion. Young leaves are used in salads and added to sauces as a spice.

A decoction of femoral root is prescribed for inflammatory diseases of the pharynx and respiratory tract, gastritis, gas accumulation and indigestion, kidney and urinary tract diseases, urolithiasis, whooping cough, constipation, stagnant edema, and also as a means to calm the nervous system.

To enhance the effect, add 15 drops of femoral decoction to 1 glass of linden tea.

Use fresh root juice to remove spots on the face by applying moistened wipes to them 4-5 times a day. Root tea (1 teaspoon per 1 glass) with rosehip infusion and honey is used for bladder stones 2 times a day.

The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks. Repeat it 4-5 times with a break of 15 days.

Bedrenets tincture is prepared with 40% alcohol in a ratio of 1:5. They insist for 10 days. Take 30 drops 4-5 times a day after meals. It is used for swelling.

To prepare a decoction, pour 1 tablespoon of crushed root into 2 cups of hot water, boil over low heat for 30 minutes, cool for 10 minutes, filter, squeeze and bring the volume to the original volume. Take 1 tablespoon 3 times a day before meals.
