Billroth Operation

Billroth operation - a group of surgical operations on the stomach and duodenum - gastric resection according to Billroth I (with ligation of the feeding artery in the area of the lesser curvature, i.e. above the pyloric opening), resection according to Billrod-Mikulich (two parts of the stomach are removed - the antrum and the 3/4 body).

Treatment tactics for duodenal ulcer and chronic anacid gastritis are determined by the type of ulcerative defect (pyloric stenosis with duodenal ulcer or jejunal variant, penetrating ulcer, multiple ulcers, ulcer perforation), depth of gastric ulcer, duration of the disease, concomitant pathology, and age of the patient. Against the background of somatic weakening, the choice of surgical tactics will be determined by: the fibrinolytic activity of the vomit (its decrease with swelling of the stomach wall due to bleeding); already verified fact of bleeding; increasing hemoperitoneum, which, however, cannot always be promptly confirmed in the acute period.
