Pale Sickness (Chlorosis)

Pale sickness, or chlorosis, is a disease observed mainly in girls during puberty. The reasons for its occurrence are overwork, malnutrition and others.

The main symptoms of pale sickness:

  1. Headaches, weakness, dizziness
  2. Pale greenish face, despite the fact that the girl may look plump
  3. Lack of appetite, craving for sour drinks
  4. Pain in the stomach in the morning, constipation
  5. Menstrual irregularities

Tuberculosis often develops against the background of pale sickness.

Treatment consists of providing rest, access to fresh air and increased nutrition - primarily milk, butter, eggs. It is necessary to limit carbohydrates and starch. Simple nutritional remedies described in the article on anemia are useful. Medications include taking iron supplements for 2-3 months.

If there are signs of scrofula against the background of pale sickness, iodine in combination with iron should be prescribed.
