Bianchi Syndrome

**Description:** Bianchi syndrome is the name given to a specific disease associated with mania and accompanying symptoms of personality disorders, mental disorders, hyperactivity with the possible disease of schizophrenia.

Italian psychiatrist Lucio Bianchi described the syndrome in 1896, initially describing it as "the presence in patients of a mixed mood of delirium." Then he described a number of patients. In particular, he describes one patient who had previously suffered from manic episodes and had never kept them under control. He talks about the period of depression that followed this phenomenon, during which the patient felt hatred and confidence in his inadequacy. Bianchi also mentions the presence of catatonia in the patient. In addition, he uses the term “human delusion,” referring to the patient’s history of hypomania and schizophrenia.
