Cataract Senile

Senile cataract (lat. cataracta senilis - senile cataract) is called senile farsightedness with an inability to see clearly. According to localization, it most often occurs in the anterior segment of the eye (the most posterior lobe of the choroid proper and the anterior part of the lens).

A cataract is a cloudy lesion in the lens of the eye, consisting of proteins and hyalocytes (glaucocytic fluid), which impairs vision. It can be caused by a variety of reasons, such as aging, injury, disease, poor diet, or prolonged exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

Senile cataracts include Bonnet cataract, Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease (hereditary baroque transparent cataract).

Cataract treatment

The first step of therapy is to reduce intraocular pressure. This can be done with eye drops, which are used to reduce high blood pressure. As the disease progresses, surgical intervention is necessary. It consists of replacing the blind lens of the eye with an artificial intraocular lens method.

In the treatment of cataracts, various methods of therapy are used - eye drops, laser treatment, surgery. The choice of method depends on a number of factors - the degree of change, the size and location of the cataract body, the cause of its occurrence.
