The Kodivilla needle holder is a medical device, a type of universal holder made from Solingen steel from the 18th century for surgical instruments. In a double-spiral needle holder, the knitting needles are designed to secure the working needle. Specialized manuals on sewing techniques from the early 20th century describe various types of knitting needle holders - “hook”, “scissors”, “boot”, “bird” and others - intended for sewing. They are used in darning operations (hemming loose threads, patching or repairing jeans).
Indispensable in urgent planned and emergency interventions. The working part of the needle immersed in the wound is held by two long knitting needles with pins at the ends (similar to needles) at one end (initially the left one), facing each other at an angle of 45 degrees. At the other end there are two pins cut for different sizes of knitting needles, spaced in different planes. It is impossible to cut or sharpen a knitting needle after sterilization, therefore, after use, the product must be replaced.
