Colitis Toxic

*Toxic colitis* is one of the most common forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which affects the rectum. Iatrogenic **colitis** is an inflammatory process in the rectum that occurs after exposure to drugs on the intestinal mucosa. It can be caused by both antibacterial drugs and synthetic diuretics and antibacterial prebiotics. This condition, which manifests itself as abnormal bowel movements and abdominal pain, is often caused by dysfunction of the stomach. In this article we will look at toxic colitis in more detail.

Colitis is a toxic inflammation of the rectum, causing discomfort and pain caused by the use of certain medications. This term refers to bowel problems caused by delayed or overuse of antibiotics. The main sign of intoxication is increased frequency of bowel movements without characteristic changes in the shape and composition of feces. The occurrence and duration of toxic colitis is directly dependent on the frequency and dosage of medications.

The most common cause of toxic intestinal damage is antibiotics and potent diuretics. Drugs of these groups can cause diarrhea, accompanied by unpleasant symptoms: excessive gas formation, pain in the navel, constipation, flatulence, false urge to defecate. Feces contain an admixture of undigested food debris with lumps of mucus. Along with external symptoms, body temperature sometimes rises slightly. A feeling of nausea may accompany diarrhea or be its separate manifestation in severe gastrointestinal diseases.
