In this article we will talk about what cryptorchidism is and what problems it can cause in men.
Cryptorchidism is an abnormal development of the testicles in the male body. During pregnancy, at a certain stage there is an active development of the fetal reproductive system. The gonads have a great influence on the processes of growth and physical development. Their formation occurs in two stages. This is the determination of sex and the formation of the gonads. Primary and secondary sexual characteristics begin to appear at different stages. The testicles form earlier than the seminal vesicles. The primary disorder of cryptorachism is caused by improper retention of glands in the abdominal cavity. It is also called the closed form of cryptorchid.
Incorrect location may be due to the following reasons: uterine injuries of varying severity, tumors of the reproductive system, obstruction of the fallopian tubes, scrotal trauma, pathology of the vessels of the penis, secondary disorders accompanying congenital anomalies in the development of the central nervous system, stress overload, perinatal hypoxia. Most newborns have a hereditary predisposition to the development of cryptorchiasis. The disease is transmitted to the child from the father.
With these deviations in the process of individual development, the anlage of the genital organs is delayed in the peritoneum. Then changes appear in the formation of the genitourinary system. Intrauterine development defects are detected after birth or in the first days of a baby’s life.
The primary form of cryptorchia manifests itself with the most pronounced clinical picture. At a certain stage, the organ is formed, but for some reason does not go beyond the boundaries of the forming one and is pulled back into the pelvic area. Subsequently, an accumulation of fluid occurs in the bag. It compresses the testicular tissue and disrupts its function. After intrauterine life, the formation of the organ stops completely. In most cases, the pathological change is compensated. Boys continue to grow normally; dysfunction of the lumbosacral spine may develop. In the secondary form, most often there is a reverse movement of organs from the abdominal cavity into the scrotum due to disruption of the muscular system of the anterior abdominal wall. Along with the vital activity of the ducts, the blood supply to the tissues is also disrupted. If fluid stagnation is prolonged, then the tissues vitally need additional nutrition. The daily fluid output is up to 0.5 ml. Any difficulty in this process leads to swelling of the organ. Then the risk of developing sexual dysfunction increases. The body reacts sharply to changes in the functional characteristics of the body. Male genital organs look pathological. They are enlarged, swollen, and pale. Testicular function may also not be completely impaired. But azoospermia often develops. This pathology is characterized by insufficient production of male germ cells. It is not only the stronger sex who suffer. Non-surgical treatment of azoospermia must be carried out from the first weeks of life. Boys and teenagers suffer this condition the hardest. Successful drug therapy is possible if it is started within a month after the primary disorder is identified. Indicators
