Danogen

Danogen is a drug that is a gonadotropin and an antigonadotropic agent. It is produced by Cipla Ltd. in India and has the international name Danazol. Danogen is available in the form of 200 mg capsules, which contain the active ingredient danazol.

This drug is used to treat several conditions, including endometriosis, benign breast neoplasms, primary menorrhagia, premenstrual syndrome, primary isosexual precocious puberty, gynecomastia, and the prevention of all types of exacerbations of hereditary angioedema. It can be used as an independent method of treating endometriosis in stages I-II, as well as before and after surgical treatment in stages III-IV.

Despite the effectiveness of Danogen in the treatment of these diseases, the drug has several contraindications. It is not recommended for use in cases of hypersensitivity to danazol, porphyria, breast cancer, prostate cancer, genital bleeding (until the cause is clarified), acute renal or liver failure, severe heart failure, diabetes mellitus, epilepsy, migraine, disorders of plasma hemostasis mechanisms , pregnancy and breastfeeding.

When using Danogen, side effects may occur, including menstrual dysfunction, reduction in the size of the mammary glands, deepening of the voice, weight gain, edema, vaginitis, impaired spermatogenesis, alopecia, facial erythema, sweating, headaches, increased intracranial pressure, lumbodynia, paresthesia, neurotic reactions, emotional lability, sleep disturbances, depression, visual disturbances, thrombocytosis or thrombocytopenia, erythrocytosis, leukocytosis, increased risk of bleeding in patients with hemophilia, increased levels of transaminases, cholestasis, hepatitis, hepatoadenoma, dyspeptic manifestations (rare), seborrhea, acne, minor hirsutism and allergic skin reactions.

Danogen may also interact with other medications, changing their effect. For example, it can increase plasma concentrations of cyclosporine antibiotics, increase insulin requirements, and enhance the activity of antiepileptic drugs. You should also avoid simultaneous use of Danogen with drugs that may increase the risk of blood clots, such as hormonal contraceptives, tranexamic acid and anticoagulants.

When using Danogen, it is necessary to take an individual approach to each patient, taking into account their state of health and medical history. If any side effects occur, you should consult your doctor to adjust the dosage or replace the drug.
