Dermatomycosis (Ringworm), Dermatophytia (Tinea)

Dermatomycosis (Ringworm), Dermatophytosis (Tinea) is a fungal infectious disease that can affect the skin, scalp or nails. The cause of dermatomycosis is dermatophyte fungi belonging to the genus Microsporum, Trichophyton and Epidermophyton; The source of infection for humans is sick animals. The disease can spread through direct contact with a source of infection or through the use of contaminated items. Skin lesions with dermatomycosis have a ring-shaped shape, and often the infected areas begin to itch very much. The most common type of tinea pedis is athlete's foot or tinea pedis; in this case, a person experiences skin lesions on the feet between the toes. Another common type of this disease is tinea capitis, the most severe manifestation of which is favus. Ringworm can also develop in the groin and thighs (tinea cruris) or on the skin of the chin and upper lip (tinea barbae). The disease is treated with antifungal medications taken orally (eg, griseofulvin or terbinafine) or applied directly to the affected areas of the skin (there are now a wide range of such products available).

Dermatomycoses are a group of fungal diseases caused by various types of fungi. Some species of dermatophytes, such as Trichophyton rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, T. verrucosum and Epidermiophytes floccosum, can cause various skin diseases. In some cases, infection occurs from sick animals. However, most people become infected through contact with another person.

Infection occurs through microscopic spores that are found on the surface of the body of patients or contaminated objects such as towels, shoes, bedding, clothing, etc. People infected with this type of fungus experience itching or redness of the skin, especially in areas of high contact with the skin - such as between the toes or the area between the legs. In addition, white pustules may appear on the skin, scabs (fungal scales) may appear, and skin and hair discoloration may increase.
