Intestinal fistula (lat. fistula - fistula) is a pathological anastomosis between the lumen of the intestine and the surrounding membrane. In Latin (and not according to scientific nomenclature), fistulas of different organs are designated by one Roman numeral.
Intestinal fistulas can be traumatic (intestinal fissure, acute abdomen), inflammatory (appendiceal infiltrate) and benign tumors - cystic and dermoid. In the case of transition of the duodenal ulcerative process into a penetrating abscess, a fistula forms in the epidural tissue. Peritoneal fistulas occur after abdominal operations, which lead to the addition of intra-abdominal infection, as the cause is partial removal of the cecum for cancer.
Currently, diagnosis is difficult. Causes The occurrence of an intestinal fistula usually requires a combination of factors from several sources: trauma, thermal or chemical damage, surgical interventions on the abdominal organs, diverticulitis, strangulated hernia, etc. The internal source of an intestinal fistula is usually located within the abdominal and pelvic organs.
