Photism is a little widespread, but of great importance, area of philosophy, which is the doctrine of the essence and origin of light. This word is of Greek origin. Its literal translation into Russian is “light”.
The doctrine of photism has been known since the times of Ancient Greece. Philosophers raised questions about the root cause of light, tried to find it as such, and considered it as a manifestation of something higher, having no connection with the material world. That is, the light in their works represented a certain moral, ethical and cosmic regulator of the life of man and other creatures of nature. Photism was opposed to ontology, which considers the material objects of the world. For him, the concept of matter is essentially contradictory and meaningless, since matter is inherent in the material world. The main task was to decompose light into its parts, to characterize and rationally classify all its manifestations.
