Gingivitis

Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums. The disease is caused by the influence of local and general unfavorable factors and occurs without compromising the integrity of the dentogingival junction.

Causes of gingivitis

Gingivitis can be caused by poor oral hygiene and widespread caries.

According to the course, gingivitis is divided into acute and chronic. Acute gingivitis is manifested by swelling, hyperemia of the gums, bleeding, and sometimes ulcers form on the surface of the gums. With chronic gingivitis, there is an overgrowth of gum tissue, and then it partially or completely covers the crown of the tooth.

Treatment of gingivitis

  1. Eliminating the cause of gum inflammation. You should protect your gums from injury. Rinse your mouth with solutions of furatsilin and lysozyme.

  2. In case of increased bleeding of the gums, they are treated with a 5% solution of potassium permanganate.

  3. For diabetes, periodontal pockets are scraped out in combination with novocaine blockade, 1 ml of a 5% solution of vitamin B1 is added to the novocaine solution, a total of 20 blockades are prescribed per course of treatment.

  4. Chronic gingivitis is treated with injections of 40% glucose solution into the gums - 0.1-0.2 ml 3-8 times.

  5. Corticosteroids in the form of ointments or injections into the gums (0.1-0.2 ml hydrocortisone)

Prevention

Prevention of gingivitis involves careful oral care - brushing your teeth 2 times a day, using dental floss, and rinsing your mouth after meals. It is also important to visit your dentist regularly for professional teeth cleanings. Timely treatment of caries also helps to avoid gum inflammation.
