Giving sternum thrusts to an unconscious adult victim
If it is obvious that a pregnant or very bulky person has been injured, performing abdominal thrusts is not possible. In this case, begin delivering thrusts to the sternum. Kneel down facing the victim. Place the heel of your palm in the center of the victim’s sternum, covering it with your second palm on top. Perform a series of five quick thrusts. Each push to the sternum is performed to a depth of 4-5 cm. After five pushes with your finger, check the oral cavity, open the airways and make two full blows. Repeat the sequence until the obstruction is cleared and air flows freely into your lungs when you inflate, or until the ambulance arrives and replaces you.
