Glossitis Indurative

Glossitis is an inflammatory disease of the mucous membrane of the tongue. Glossitis occurs as a result of mechanical, chemical, thermal damage (insect bites, burns from hot food), the action of infectious agents (fungi, bacteria, viruses), autoimmune diseases (for example, rheumatoid arthritis, vasculitis), as well as after the administration of drugs. Subjective symptoms of glossitis are itching, burning, irritation of the tongue, swelling, some pain (numbness, tingling sensation), and possibly bad breath. To make a diagnosis of glossitis, an examination of the oral cavity and histological examination of biopsies from the affected areas are performed. Treatment of glossitis depends on the cause and is aimed at eliminating the pathological agent. Prevention of glossitis involves maintaining oral hygiene and giving up bad habits (sniffing tobacco, alcohol abuse).
