Cholesterosis of the Gallbladder

Cholesterosis is a condition of the gallbladder. A purulent process in the gallbladder is also called cholangitis. It occurs both in cholecystitis and in cases of iatrogenic infection after surgical trauma, and can also occur after childbirth. Cholecystitis is an acquired pathology of the intestines or stomach.



Cholesterol is a fatty substance that the body produces and uses to produce hormones and other important substances. However, sometimes a failure in its metabolism can occur, which leads to the accumulation of cholesterol inside the body in the form of plaques. These plaques can form in different parts of the body, such as on the walls of blood vessels or inside the brain.

Fat cells (known as low-density lipoproteins or LDL) absorb excess cholesterol, forming esters, which are transported from the liver to the fat.
