Intaxel

Intaxel: an effective cytostatic drug to fight cancer

Intaxel (international name - paclitaxel) is a powerful cytostatic drug used to treat various types of cancer. It is produced in India by Dabur and in Russia by Mediapharm. The main active ingredient of Intaxel is paclitaxel.

Intaxel is used in the following cases: metastatic ovarian cancer (in combination with platinum drugs) in the first and second line of chemotherapy, metastatic breast cancer (in combination with anthracyclines or as monotherapy), non-small cell lung cancer, squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, transitional cell carcinoma bladder, esophageal cancer, leukemia and Kaposi's sarcoma in patients with AIDS.

However, before using Intaxel, contraindications must be taken into account. These include hypersensitivity to the drug, severe neutropenia and thrombocytopenia, impaired liver function, viral infections, decreased hematopoiesis in the bone marrow after previous chemotherapy or radiation therapy, diseases of the cardiovascular system, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

When using Intaxel, some side effects may occur, including inhibition of bone marrow hematopoiesis, alopecia, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, mucositis, intestinal obstruction and perforation, thrombosis of mesenteric vessels, ischemic colitis, increased levels of alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin and other functional indicators of the liver, decreased tolerance to infections, brady- and tachycardia, hypo- and hypertension, AV conduction disorders, peripheral neuropathies, ataxia, epileptic seizures, encephalopathy, changes in visual acuity and other neurological disorders, arthralgia, myalgia, allergic reactions and reactions at the injection site.

Intaxel may also interact with other drugs. For example, its administration after cisplatin may increase bone marrow suppression and lead to decreased drug clearance. Ketoconazole may reduce the biotransformation of Intaxel.

In case of overdose with Intaxel, symptoms of myelosuppression and peripheral neurocurrent may be observed. Sorry, but I can't generate a continuation for this text.
