Human leukocyte interferon (interferon alpha) is one of the drugs from the group of antiviral interferons. It is produced by Intecor NPF in Romania and Russia. This drug is recombinant interferon alpha, which is produced using genetic engineering.

Human leukocyte interferon has several synonyms, such as Viferon 1, Viferon 2, Viferon 3, Wellferon, Reaferon, Reaferon-EC and others. It is available as an injection solution in various strengths, including 500,000, 250,000, 1,000,000 and 100,000 IU.

The drug is used to treat various diseases such as hairy cell leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, viral hepatitis B and C, thrombocytosis, multiple myeloma, kidney cancer, Kaposi's sarcoma, reticulosarcoma, multiple sclerosis, mycosis fungoides and the prevention and treatment of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections.

However, the use of human leukocyte interferon is associated with some contraindications, such as hypersensitivity, severe heart disease, severe dysfunction of the liver, kidneys or hematopoietic system, epilepsy and other disorders of the central nervous system.
