What diseases can be diagnosed by the eyes?

The eyes reflect not only what is happening in our souls. The color of the sclera can be used for early diagnosis of many unpleasant diseases. If you feel unwell, take a closer look at the whites of your eyes.

Grayish sclera (if age-related changes are excluded) indicate the onset of rheumatoid arthritis. It is also worth paying attention to the calcium balance in the body, because the grayish color of the sclera may indicate brittle bone syndrome.

Eyes become red from dryness. First of all, redness is caused by non-compliance with the norms of working at the computer. Excessive air conditioning can also cause eye irritation. If redness persists even under comfortable eye conditions, this is a reason to check the functioning of the thyroid gland. Tiny blood vessels also become more visible in diabetes. And if, in addition to redness, your eyes itch and water, look for the allergen that causes such a reaction. By the way, eye creams, mascara and other cosmetics often cause irritation.

The most dangerous color of sclera is yellow. If you notice it, consult a doctor immediately to rule out jaundice and avoid possible complications.
