Postscript Katamnes This is a combination of two Greek words "kata" and "mnesis". Essentially, kata means something related to "return", "reverse movement" or "return". Mnesis is translated as "memory".
Thus, "catamnesia" comes from the Greek term κατάμνεσις (katamesis), which means "retrospective analysis" or return to the past.
However, in medicine the concept of follow-up is interpreted differently. It represents an **analysis of the results** of the treatment performed after completion of the treatment.
Sometimes a follow-up examination is used immediately after the patient is discharged from the hospital, sometimes it is carried out later, when patients undergo outpatient treatment or after treatment at home.
