Kiev women can have their breasts checked for free

This week, under the People's Friendship Arch on the territory of the European Town, a mammologist at the Kyiv City Oncology Center is conducting free consultations for everyone. This opportunity is provided to Kiev residents and guests of the city by Rinat Akhmetov’s Charitable Foundation “Development of Ukraine” as part of its “Health of the Nation” direction.

“Breast cancer is the most common malignant disease in women, especially over 40 years of age. Every year in Ukraine, about 16.5 thousand women receive this diagnosis, while more than 20% of them have advanced stage cancer, and 12% die within the first year after diagnosis. Therefore, preventive examinations by a mammologist for timely prevention of various complications can sometimes save lives. When breast cancer is detected at an early stage, the probability of a complete recovery is 94%,” says Victoria Mykolayuk, head of the “We Can Cure Cancer” project of the Development of Ukraine Foundation.

The mammologist will provide consultations until July 1 inclusive, every day from 10.00 to 22.00, in the “Together to a Healthy Society” tent, which is located on the right behind the football field under the People’s Friendship Arch. There is also a TB specialist in the tent who provides consultations on tuberculosis issues. For everyone, in the parking lot to the left of the main entrance on the territory of the Eurotown there is a fluorograph, which allows you to diagnose the lungs using a modern digital x-ray fluorography machine.

The fluorographer's work schedule is from 10.00 to 22.00, breaks from 13.30 to 14.30, from 17.30 to 18.30.
