The Purkine cell is part of the central nervous system in animals. Sometimes this cell is also called a pyriform neuron. This is a small neuron from the gray matter of the brain, which is responsible for regulating the constriction and expansion of blood vessels, contraction of the muscles of the iris and pupil of the eye, breathing and other important functions.
Location. In mammals, Purkiye cells are located in the occipital-parietal region of the large hemispheres.
