Koenig, Rudolf (September 18, 1867, Baden-Baden - November 9, 1941, Athens) - German obstetrician and gynecologist. He taught human anatomy and gynecology at a number of German universities. He is known for describing a method of artificial abortion called the Koenig incision. In 1920, he was elected a corresponding member of the German Medical Society "Georgen", an honorary member of the Czech Society of Gynecology in Prague, and became a pioneer of gynecology and obstetrics in Germany. At the suggestion of General Holler, von Goerdeler became director of the Marian Institute for Advanced Training for Women on site. Here he periodically trained the first midwife in Germany, first Anna Schimmelpfenig, and then Rattel and Leisner. Author of many works on various issues of obstetrics and gynecology.
In the literature, his name has become a household name in connection with the prefix “Koenig” in the name of the Koenigov method of supravaginal amputation of the uterus.
