Cordypin Xl

Cordipine XL: Calcium channel blocker for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases

Cordipine XL is a pharmacological drug belonging to the group of dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers. It contains the active substance nifedipine and is used to treat various cardiovascular diseases. The drug is manufactured by Krka d.d. in Slovenia and has the international name "Nifedipine".

Cordipin XL is widely used for the treatment of arterial hypertension, including hypertensive crisis, prevention of angina attacks (including Prinzmetal's angina), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, Raynaud's disease, pulmonary hypertension and broncho-obstructive syndrome.

The drug is available in the form of ultraretard tablets with a dosage of 40 mg of nifedipine. Its action is based on blocking calcium channels, which helps reduce the contractile activity of the muscles of blood vessels and the heart. This leads to dilation of the arteries, reducing resistance to peripheral blood flow and improving blood supply to the heart.

It should be noted that Cordipin XL has some contraindications and restrictions for use. The drug is not recommended for hypersensitivity to nifedipine, acute myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, severe aortic stenosis, decompensated heart failure, severe arterial hypotension, tachycardia, pregnancy and breastfeeding. In addition, the safety and effectiveness of the drug in children have not been established, so it should not be used in pediatric practice.

Side effects may occur when using Cordipin XL. Some of them include facial flushing with a feeling of heat, palpitations, dizziness, headache, nausea, diarrhea, gingival hyperplasia, bronchospasm and allergic reactions. If any unwanted effects occur, you should consult a doctor.

It is also important to consider the interaction of Cordipine XL with other drugs. It can enhance the hypotensive effect of nitrates, diuretics, beta-blockers, and also interact with some antidepressants, fentanyl, alcohol and other drugs.

In conclusion, it should be noted that when using Cordipin XL, you must follow the individual dosage and doctor's recommendations. You should not change the dosage yourself or stop taking the drug without consulting a medical specialist. Only a doctor can evaluate the indications for use and determine the most effective treatment regimen for each individual patient.
