Medicines that actually prevent old age may appear on sale in the next 5 years. This opinion was expressed by Australian scientists.
A study recently published in the journal Science showed that a drug that targets one anti-aging enzyme will prevent age-related diseases and thereby significantly extend people's lives.
During the study, scientists tested 117 drugs on the target enzyme. Thus, a class of drugs against age-related diseases (Alzheimer's disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer) can be created. Professor David Sinclair, the lead researcher, estimates that the new drugs will treat one disease while preventing many others. This means that the aging of the human body will slow down.
