Ligament Fibrous Anterior

The anterior fibrous ligament (lat. l. fibrosum anticum) is a dense fibrous formation that connects the anterior sections of the semilunar meniscus of the knee joint with the anterior surface of the intercondylar eminence of the tibia.

The ligament plays an important role in limiting excessive forward movement of the meniscus when the knee joint is flexed. In addition, it strengthens and stabilizes the anterior part of the joint.

Damage or rupture of the fibrous anterior ligament often leads to dislocations and meniscus injuries. This can cause pain, instability of the knee joint and interfere with its normal functioning.
