Germiston fever

Germiston fever is an infectious disease transmitted by mosquitoes from the family Culicidae, subfamily Aedes. The virus belongs to the group of arboviruses of the Bunyamwer antigenic group.

The incubation period is 3-10 days, but most often 4-6 days. Fever begins suddenly, with an increase in temperature to 40-41 °C. Chills, severe headache, back and limb pain, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and muscle pain may occur. Symptoms may persist for up to 5 days.

Treatment for Germiston fever includes taking antipyretic medications and drinking plenty of fluids. Antibiotics may also be prescribed to combat bacterial complications.

Although Germiston fever is usually uneventful, it can lead to serious complications such as kidney failure or myocarditis. Therefore, at the first symptoms, you should consult a doctor for diagnosis and treatment.
