Microlithiasis

Microliths in the gastrointestinal tract Microliths are a collective concept that refers to small stones of various shapes up to 7 mm in diameter. Stone inclusions form in the intestinal cavity, the ampulla of the gallbladder, and rarely in the lumen of the stomach. Usually the symptom occurs after half a century or older, but an earlier manifestation of the pathology is also possible, associated with metabolic abnormalities in the internal organs. The duration of the course directly depends on the size of the microlith, its localization and the place of penetration into the walls of the organ. At the initial stage, there are no symptoms, but they become noticeable with the growth of salt deposits, which can lead to the development of bile duct dysfunction and cholelithiasis. Since the manifestations are considered asymptomatic, the disease is discovered by chance.
