Müllerov Strait

The Müllerian duct is a duct named after the German anatomist and physiologist Johannes Peter Müller (1801-1858).

The Müllerian duct is an embryonic structure from which the male and female reproductive organs are formed during embryonic development. In male embryos, the Müllerian duct regresses, and in female embryos it turns into the oviducts, uterus and upper part of the vagina.

Thus, the Müllerian duct plays an important role in sexual differentiation and the formation of the reproductive system. The discovery of this structure in 1830 was Johannes Peter Müller's significant contribution to embryology and anatomy. In his honor, the duct was named Müllerian duct.
