Nadinka About Her Childbirth

How our Dasha was born..

I thought for a long time about how best to describe everything... more realistically or omitting details? Mitigating what I experienced so as not to frighten anyone ahead of time () or is it still the way it really happened?
Well, I don’t even know... let it turn out the way it turns out.

So.
I want to start this story with great gratitude to my Seryozhenka, without whom I would not have held up so well during childbirth and without whom it would not have been so easier for me. And I don’t understand those who refuse the presence of a loved one nearby at such a crucial moment.

It all started on Wednesday the 4th during acupuncture (it’s amazing how these needles work on me!), when after the session my lower abdomen began to feel strange. I didn’t attach any importance to this and continued to expect two weeks of waiting for our miracle. But it was not there. On Thursday, the mucus plug came off, which is clear evidence of impending labor. Although... as many assured me, they could start in a week or two... Therefore, we relaxed and went for a walk on Thursday evening before going to bed. It was a full moon night - the moon hung huge and yellow, and for some reason I immediately remembered the words of the midwife, who said that the largest number of children are born on a full moon.. I don’t know, maybe it’s all just stories, of course, but I felt uneasy in that moment. On the other hand, I really wanted Baby

A walk and a final warm shower before bed yielded results: at 2 a.m., while going to the potty, water started running down my legs. Just don’t panic - these were my first thoughts... There were no contractions, and I began to quickly figure out what to do in such a situation. That's right - go to the hospital. I tiptoed up to my peacefully sleeping husband (I must say that we went to bed late, and his sleep lasted no more than 2 hours) and said: that’s it, the waters have broken. At first he didn’t get it, but then he quickly jumped up and ran to call the hospital. There they clarified whether the child was firmly in the pelvis, and, having heard a positive answer, they told him to come immediately. (The doctor told me about the child’s situation the day before, when I urgently ran to her with a loose plug).

I remember how, in some foggy state, I took off my slippers and put them in a bag. Documents in your jacket pocket, phone, bag, pre-folded... that seems to be all. If you need something, you can always bring the rest.
And outside the moon... is huge!!
My husband kept worrying whether I could walk and whether it would be harmful to me.. It was clear how he was starting to get nervous and worried.
As luck would have it, both headlights in the car burned out - we were driving with fog lights (fortunately there wasn’t much traffic at two o’clock in the morning).
It's rush hour in the maternity ward of the hospital. Everyone has decided to give birth abruptly and there are not enough maternity wards. But since I was not having contractions, they sent me for an ultrasound and to check the opening of the cervix. Ultrasound is normal, heartbeat is also .. opening 1 cm. Not too much.

The first contraction did not seem very painful... and I was even happy, believing that they would always be like this (naive). Rolling every 10, or even 30 minutes, they forced us to breathe deeply and not think about anything else except the correct breathing that we were taught in the courses: inhale through the nose, exhale through the mouth... breathing from the stomach to provide oxygen to the child.
They sent me to walk the corridors and wait for more frequent contractions. at the same time, sitting or lying down is not recommended at all, since it is movement that gives the impetus.. But for me it was clearly in no hurry. They gave homeopathic tablets to speed up the process - zero reaction. We continued to sit and walk around the contraction room, twisting our pelvis while sitting on a ball...on the sofa in a doggy style position. Moreover, the liver helps if the husband massages the lower back, and during a contraction he squeezes the pelvic bones with both hands. I don't know why, but it helps.

At 8 I was sent to have breakfast with my husband..
We were allocated a room and a bed. Everything is new, since I have never been in a hospital in my life. We stuffed our things in the closet and admired the baby
