Neuron Effector

Effector neuron is a synonym for the term efferent neuron.

Efferent (effector) neurons are neurons that transmit signals from the central nervous system to effectors (muscles and glands). They are part of the motor and autonomic nerve pathways. Signals from efferent neurons cause muscle contraction or gland secretion.

Thus, efferent (effector) neurons carry out efferent (centrifugal) conduction - conducting nerve impulses from the central nervous system to the periphery. This is the opposite of afferent (sensory) neurons, which carry signals to the brain and spinal cord from receptors.
