The sand mite is a small insect about 1 mm in size. Lives in sand, especially in playgrounds and sandboxes. A sand mite bite is usually unnoticeable, but after some time (from 2 hours to 2 days), an itchy, painful papulovesicular element measuring 3-5 mm, reminiscent of a mosquito bite, appears at the site of the bite.
To avoid complications, you need to properly treat the sand mite bite site. It is recommended to scratch the bite and lubricate it with iodine morning and evening for 3 days. Otherwise, the bite site may swell greatly, like a chicken egg, and suppuration will begin. If the first signs of infection appear - redness, swelling, fever - you should immediately consult a doctor.
