Pfulya Symptom

Pfuel's symptom (Pfuhl's phenomenon) is a symptomological complex characterized by increased intracranial pressure.

Described by the German neurologist and psychiatrist Albert Pfuel in 1896. Manifested by headache, vomiting, congestive optic discs, swelling of the optic nerve nipples.

The causes of increased intracranial pressure can be different: brain tumors, hemorrhages, skull injuries. Pfuhl's syndrome is a sign of intracranial hypertension and requires immediate evaluation and treatment.

Timely diagnosis helps prevent severe complications such as swelling and dislocation of the brain. Treatment is aimed at reducing intracranial pressure and eliminating the underlying cause.
