Pink October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Here is a draft article for "Pink October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month":

After 10 years of mass charity Walks as part of the “Together Against Breast Cancer” movement, AVON and the Women’s Health and Family Planning Foundation invite everyone to join two campaigns in support of women’s health, which are held in the format of an event cascade under the auspices of World Cancer Month with breast cancer - Pink October/Pink October.

From October 1, the doors of the capital’s 4 cinemas “Line Kino” (Aladdin, Magelan, Metropolis) and Oscar (Dream Town) cinemas opened to thousands of spectators (155 thousand people!), ready to donate one hryvnia as an added value a ticket to a film show for the purchase of modern equipment for diagnostic examination of the breast at a regional public clinic. Thanks to this, thousands of women will have the opportunity, having learned about health problems, and, if necessary, prevent the development of breast diseases in time.

Kiev women can have their breasts checked for free. And on October 16, at the Kyiv cinema, this program will be presented at the premiere of the film “Five” (Sony Pictures Television, 87 min.). A year ago, this film opened Pink October in the USA. These are five film stories that are designed to instill optimism and faith in the best in those who have already been diagnosed. Each of the five short stories has its own director. Two films were directed by famous Hollywood movie stars - Jennifer Aniston and Demi Moore, as well as famous singer Alicia Keys, professional documentary director Peleopa Spheeris and the author of the Oscar-winning film "Monster", independent director Patty Jenkins.

“We want our films to inspire women who have learned about a terrible diagnosis. So that they do not lose heart, but continue to fight, because their chances of winning are quite high. Breast cancer is not just a serious disease, it is a challenge that requires a person to show fortitude, courage and strength,” Jennifer Aniston explains the creative concept of the group.

The campaign raises funds to purchase modern diagnostic equipment (mammograph, digitizer, developing machine) and train doctors in advanced methods for diagnosing breast cancer. Pink October is a positive way to reach out to women and draw their attention to themselves, to talk about the importance of regular medical examinations for the happiness of their loved ones. After all, so many women do not find time for themselves in the daily care of their families. So many women (30%!) turn to doctors in the later stages of the disease...

“You shouldn’t hide behind a screen of ignorance. Get examined regularly by a mammologist!” - this is exactly what one of the slogans of this year’s campaign sounds like, written on... a screen. This is an absolutely feminine attribute, which we also chose not by chance. Firstly, the screen is associated with an examination by a doctor, and secondly, the screen standing in a woman’s room is her small private territory, where she can be alone with herself in rare moments of peace and think about her health. Those. the screen has a dual purpose: to protect the woman from prying eyes and at the same time take her out of there at the doctor’s appointment in order to undergo an examination and prevent a terrible diagnosis. And the screen is a very “cinematic” image: we see it so often in richly costumed films, in films about love, in films about Women. The global leader in the beauty segment, AVON, understands and shares these feminine wisdom very well, therefore, for 20 years in a row, in more than 60 countries, it has been presenting its version of autumn to the world community...
