American scientists have stated that a light breakfast that contains 10-12 whole almonds helps you lose weight and maintain normal blood sugar levels throughout the day.
Experts conducted an experiment in which they divided volunteers into two groups: one of them ate meals containing whole almonds for breakfast, and the other ate foods with a fairly high glycemic index (an indicator that reflects the speed at which a particular product is broken down in the body and is converted to glucose - the main source of energy). Scientists noted that participants in the first group remained full longer and blood glucose levels remained acceptable not only after breakfast, but also after lunch.
The conclusion of the Americans was that this nut is absorbed very slowly and thereby gradually, rather than sharply, increasing blood sugar levels. And this, in turn, leads to the fact that a person may not feel hungry for a long time and lose weight.
