Polyhydramnios: causes, symptoms and treatment

1. Description: Hydramnios (from ancient Greek ὕδωρ - water and μνεία - memory) is a pathological condition characterized by excessive accumulation of amniotic fluid in the uterine cavity during pregnancy. Typically, this volume of fluid corresponds to a period of 32-34 weeks. Polyhydramnios is the condition of the fetus in the womb when these waters put pressure on it. All this complicates the child’s blood circulation. However, there may be different degrees of congenital such a fetal condition and the types of polyhydramnios differ accordingly. Polyhydramnios, manifested in too much cerebrospinal fluid, is extremely rare.
