Preagonal State

The preagonal or preagonic state is the state of the body before the onset of agony.

In this state, the person is unconscious but can still breathe and speak. He may experience severe pain, but is unable to control it.

Preagonal state can be caused by various reasons, such as stroke, heart attack, sepsis and other diseases. In this state, the body begins to prepare for death, so it is important to help it as soon as possible.

If the preagonal condition is not treated, it can lead to agony and death. Therefore, it is important to know what to do in such a situation and how to help the person.

The preagonal state appears as a consequence of abrupt withdrawal of hormonal medications that affect appetite (appetite reducers, anorexigens). Normally, there are very few glucogen receptors in the human cerebral hemispheres and hypothalamus, i.e. protein structures that bind insulin and release glucose. Therefore, the cerebral hemispheres can use fats as an energy resource. That is why a person who has used the appropriate hormones will be able to eat fat for many days and even weeks without feeling hungry.

However, insulin has a direct effect on beta cells

The preagonal state is the state that occurs just before the agony itself. Most often, the preagon is a harbinger of dying, since this is the final stage of life and it shows how much the internal organs and functionality of the body have deteriorated.

Watching preagony is a difficult and dangerous sight for a person. As a result of severe suffocation - pleurisy, severe fevers - cyanosis of the skin, severe dilation of the pupils of the eyes, retraction of the nose, mouth and tongue are observed. Difficulty breathing, spasms, yawning, staggering, grimacing - this is what happens during the preagon. The eyelids, lower jaw and lips are covered with foam. Attacks of hiccups are observed, the patient’s pulse periodically drops, and due to a decrease in blood pressure and an increase in reflex activity, “pyramids”—convulsions—occur. As tissues undergo active metabolic changes, pH levels decrease.
