**An epileptic affective attack** (PAA) is a brief neurological episode characterized by the sudden onset of generalized mental and behavioral manifestations that occurs without reference to any physical or emotional stimulus. It is the brevity of the seizures that distinguishes them from the attacks of typical epilepsy, which are longer (up to tens of minutes).
Historically, the concept of “seizure” was interpreted as a pathological process accompanied by a disorder of nervous activity - a narrowing of consciousness to convulsive forms (psychotic or cerebral), violent movement of the body (suspense).
