Proptosis

Proptosis (Latin proproptus - falling in front) is the protrusion of the eyeball from the orbit due to paralysis or paresis of the external muscles of the eye and/or the group of extraocular muscles responsible for the movement of the eyeball (exophthalmos). However, it should be borne in mind that the term “proptosis” describes not only the condition in which the eyeball is displaced forward, but also the condition of its displacement from side to side while maintaining the correct relationship between it and the orbit
