Radioallergosorbent Test

Radioallergosorber test (RAST): what is it?

The radioallergosorbent test (radioallergosorption RAST) is the only method for excluding allergic diseases, based on the detection of IgE antibodies in human serum or plasma. In the absence of a “reference” allergy, the antigen will be a sterile protein dissolved in a physiological solution at a concentration that does not cause any discomfort or sensitizing symptoms. To increase its permeability, a natural desorption factor is selected (physical methods and weak salt solutions).

There are several varieties: PAT, GITA, SPCA. But the most widely used method is SPCA (cellobiosephosphochelidonic acid), which allows you to identify IgE on fiber and mucous membranes (27%), which is not so easy to do using the Ph method.
